MEATH SELF STORAGE - NAVAN, MH

We moved back to Ireland from the UK in May and 10 days before the move date we called Paddy and booked the 100 sq foot space. We arranged to meet him there on the date we would be arriving in Ireland. We had hired a moving company to drive our stuff over and they were going directly there off the ferry. We got there at the arranged time and rang him to find out he was in Dublin and had thought we were to arrive the previous Thursday and that we hadn't shown up. In which case, you would have thought he'd have given us a call to confirm? Our movers had a slot booked on a return ferry and needed to have a prompt turn around. P**** said he would send someone with a key but that it would be about 2 hours time. Finally, almost 3 hours after the agreed meeting time, someone came with a key. It wasn't clear which unit we were supposed to take and there were a lot of empty ones so we took the one nearest the door and moved our stuff in. The floor was very dusty with builders/ concrete dust but luckily our movers gave us some extra blankets to protect our furniture. We arranged to meet P**** a week later to give him the payment for the 10 weeks and when we got there, he informed us that we had taken a bigger unit than what we had agreed on and we could give him another 100 euro (350 instead of 250) or we could move our stuff into a smaller unit. We refused to give him another cent and we agreed to move our stuff. There was no consideration to the fact we had our 2 very young children with us and no advanced warning so we could have brought some more help. In the process of moving our stuff into the smaller unit (which measured 72 sq feet, not 100) my husband turned his foot and ended up breaking a bone. When we did retrieve our furniture after the agreed 10 weeks, the furniture was warped from damp, the mattresses were damp and everything smelled musty. I suppose it did have one good thing going for it- it was cheap and you obviously get what you pay for!
